• 01.The Glossary of Book and Chapter Titles is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms from the Veritable Records of King Sejong conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
• 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of 2014, when the project was being carried out, are as follows.
  • -Oh Young-gyun (Arizona State University), Yoon Seokho (Yonsei University Graduate School), and Kim Sunghee (National Institute of Korean History)
• 03.The relevant terms tagged as a ‘book title’ in the Veritable Records of King Sejong entries on the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty webpage were selected as glossary. In addition to that, names of book chapters, music and dance, and rituals are also included. In such case, the terms are marked with a double quotation mark.
• 04.If the titles included in the glossary are different from actual terms used in the English entries of the Veritable Records of King Sejong, they are specified in the note section.

• 05.The Glossary of Book and Chapter Titles is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the best translation terms extracted from the translation process so far. If more suitable translation terms are presented in the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.
